Resource-Cluster Model
The resource-cluster model is an arrangement in which a group of identified gifted students is assigned to a classroom with a cluster teacher who collaborates with the gifted resource teacher, Mrs. Vickery, to provide differentiated curriculum and instruction.
The gifted resource teacher provides continuous training and support to the cluster teacher in the development of curriculum and the use of gifted instructional strategies in the classroom.
Building Depth and Complexity
The focus of the gifted program is building depth and complexity into the curriculum. To accomplish this goal, the GRT provides staff development sessions. Cluster teachers have a planning time with the GRT to develop and implement differentiated lessons, units, and projects. The GRT also models strategies, team teaches, and works with flexible groups. Collaboration sessions take place for 50 minutes per week as a minimum. The GRT attends city-wide training sessions as well on a regular basis.
The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.
